Anti-social use of off-road motorcycles and other motor vehicles |
||
|
Good Afternoon,
We’ve recently received a number of reports about anti-social use of off-road motorcycles and other motor vehicles on public footpaths and open spaces. This behaviour is dangerous, illegal, and putting pedestrians, families, and vulnerable residents at risk of serious harm.
I want to assure you that this is a priority for me as your local beat officer. We at your local community safety unit understand the impact this is having on the community, from intimidation and noise nuisance to the very real risk of collision or injury.
On this topic, today PC WARNER and I were in SNODLAND on patrol. Our attention was drawn to an off-road E-Bike that was being used on LEE ROAD. Due to the ongoing issues with E-BIKES in SNODLAND, PC WARNER and I were determined to catch the bike and it’s rider. PC WARNER used the initiative and snuck up on the rider, catching them on the bike. One e-bike seized.
The message is simple: electric off-road bikes are not legal for road use and put members of the public and families alike at risk of injury, which is behaviour that will simply not be tolerated. Those caught using them will lose their bikes and may also face receiving a ticket.
Be safe out there everybody.
